Laura Clarke

Clinical Psychologist
Board Approved Supervisor

Welcome.

I'm a clinical psychologist in Melbourne / Naarm with experience working in private, public, and NGO mental health settings.

I currently provide individual therapy and board-approved supervision. If you have any questions, please feel very welcome to call or email me (details below).

Please note I currently have availability via Telehealth only.

Individual Therapy

I believe successful therapy relies on a strong therapeutic relationship and a tailored approach that draws on evidence-based techniques relevant to each individual. My therapeutic approach draws heavily on ISTDP (Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy), in conjunction with CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), including Mindfulness.

I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, grief & loss, bereavement, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, and career and life transitions.

I also have a background in performing arts and a particular interest in working therapeutically with performers and artists.

Board Approved Supervision

I am registered with PsyBA as a board approved supervisor for postgraduate students, provisional psychologists, and clinical psychology registrars. Please call or email me if you’d like to discuss the possibility of supervision.

Standard individual therapy sessions are for 50 minutes. You don’t require a referral; however, many individuals will be eligible to obtain a referral from their GP for Medicare rebates. This is usually done via a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), which allows for up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year. The current Medicare rebate for MHTP sessions is $141.85. This means you’ll generally be out of pocket just under $105 per session. I encourage you to speak to your GP about your referral options.

Please be aware that for any Medicare claims, you need a valid referral letter, dated on or before the date of your psychology session.

You may be able to claim for sessions via Private Health Insurance. Please check this with your health insurance provider.
